Chronic Pain Management in Baltimore
Understanding Chronic Pain and How We Can Help
Approximately 70 million Americans experience chronic pain on any given day. For many, this isn’t a short-term injury that heals with rest — it becomes persistent, lasting months or years, showing up in different ways, and affecting far more than just the body.
Having lived with chronic hip pain myself, I understand how invisible and isolating chronic pain can feel. Many of our patients are high-functioning individuals — raising families, managing demanding jobs, and showing up for others — all while quietly coping with pain that nobody else sees. Outwardly, they appear “normal,” but internally, they’re exhausted from managing symptoms that never seem to go away.
We can help. Our approach focuses on identifying the root causes of your pain, restoring function, and giving you the tools to reclaim your life.
Why Chronic Pain Is So Complex
Chronic pain isn’t just about muscles or joints — it affects multiple systems in the body:
- The nervous system becomes sensitized, making normal movements feel threatening
- The musculoskeletal system (especially myofascial tissue) develops trigger points, tightness, and protective holding patterns
- The GI tract and digestive system often get thrown off by constant stress and inflammation
- Headaches and migraines can develop from muscular and nervous system overload
- Sleep, mood, and energy are all impacted
This is why quick fixes and one-size-fits-all approaches usually don’t work. Chronic pain requires a deeper, more individualized process.
The Role of Muscles and Myofascial Tissue in Chronic Pain
One of the most overlooked drivers of chronic pain is the myofascial system — the muscles and connective tissue that support every movement. When muscles stay tight, shortened, or overloaded for too long, they can send pain signals that mimic nerve or joint problems.
Many of my patients come to me after years of being told their MRI or X-ray “explains everything.” But scans rarely tell the whole story. Muscle imbalance, fascial restriction, and movement avoidance can create pain that looks like something else — and unless we address these tissues directly, the pain persists.
My Approach to Chronic Pain Management
I take a one-on-one, individualized approach with every patient. Chronic pain can’t be treated in a cookie-cutter fashion — it requires patience, compassion, and a willingness to meet each person where they are.
My treatment often includes:
- Breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and reset movement patterns
- Manual therapy and dry needling to release myofascial restrictions
- Graded exposure to exercise — starting small, rebuilding trust in movement, and gradually progressing
- Postural and movement retraining to restore efficiency and reduce unnecessary tension
- Education and reassurance — replacing fear-based messaging with encouragement and empowerment

Contact Us Today
So many people with chronic pain have been told by other clinicians that something is “wrong” with them at every visit. That’s not my approach. Instead, I focus on helping you develop a new relationship with movement — one where exercise feels safe, enjoyable, and life-giving again.
Why Patients Seek Our Care
Many of my chronic pain patients have already seen multiple practitioners — doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists, even surgeons — without finding lasting relief. They’ve been prescribed medications, injections, and restrictive “don’ts” that often leave them feeling fragile and afraid to move.
I take a different approach:
- You’re not fragile.
- You don’t need to fear your body.
- Movement is not the enemy — it’s the medicine.
My role is to help you rebuild trust in your body and rediscover what it feels like to move without fear.
What to Expect in Treatment
At your first visit, I’ll take the time to listen to your story — the history of your pain, what you’ve tried, and how it affects your daily life. I’ll then perform a thorough assessment of your movement, posture, and muscle function.
From there, we’ll create a personalized plan that combines hands-on treatment, guided exercise, and self-care strategies you can use at home. Every session is tailored to your progress — no cookie-cutter programs, no rushing, and no unnecessary labels.
Progress varies for each patient, but over time, many find that pain becomes more manageable, movement becomes easier, and everyday life feels more enjoyable.
